BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age. It is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The lines that appear between the brows are actually results from muscle movement and the passage of time. Botox is injected directly into the muscles blocking the release of a chemical that causes the muscles to contract and enables them to relax.
The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the infection. The effects are very localized and do not affect your ability to smile, laugh, or otherwise show expression. Botox is FDA approved.
One can expect to see results within days after your treatment, and the appearance of the brow area may continue to improve for up to a week. Visible results have been shown to last up to four months. After that, many are ready to return for a follow-up treatment.
